cognitive domain operations

Cognitive.

The program engages cognitive domain operations as research material, not as a how-to. Reveal-the-pipeline writing about cognitive operations runs through the same channels the operations themselves travel through; the discipline lives in which parts of the work are surfaced publicly and which are held internal.

The section has two faces. The threat — how a cognitive operation installs itself, until the target watches themselves on the operator's behalf. And the defense — how a reader runs their own watcher instead: the inoculation method and the diagnostic ladder. The artifacts below are grouped that way. The "held internal" list is what the program keeps off the public surface, and why — auditable on purpose, so readers can disagree with the line and say where.

§01the threat in sixty seconds

A cognitive operation installs itself in seven moves, each running before the last has surfaced. The pipeline, paired with the one question that breaks each stage:

The terminal state is the installed watcher: the target runs the operator's frame on themselves and calls it their own judgment. The counter is the Diagnostic Ladder — climb any input through the five rungs it was built to reverse:

§02the editorial cut

The framework's house rule, from /canon/ethics: if the essay opens vulnerability, it must return an instrument. If it names a pipeline, it must teach the reader to see the pipeline. The CDO section is held to that rule one section at a time, with the cut documented below.

  • Defensive Cognitive Terrain Inoculation (DCTI) — full method
    The reader-side defensive instrument. Returns agency. Aligned with the framework's house rule: if the essay opens vulnerability, it must return an instrument.
  • Adversarial Cognitive Propagation Profile (ACPP) — summary
    Names the seven threats and the defensive diagnostic for each. Lets a reader recognize the pipeline operating on them. Does not publish payload forms or success thresholds.
  • The Diagnostic Ladder — full instrument
    The defensive succession (feel / think / believe / do / become), the locators, and the deliberate-vs-emergent governor. Pure recognition instrument, governor-gated against paranoia; carries no offensive operational detail, so it is published in full. The defensive counter to the Installed Watcher.
  • The Installed Watcher — full essay
    Framework-level synthesis. Names what the matrix and pattern library have been describing without naming. Most defensible single-page CDO artifact because it is meta-analysis, not method.
  • Foundational sources
    Seventeen-citation public bibliography. The framework cites established literature; cropping the citations would obscure the program's debt to it.
  • Sources for The Installed Watcher — citation-ready
    Per-source page tracing every empirical claim in the synthesis essay back to its primary literature, with scope caveats named where the framework's reading exceeds what the source establishes. Closes with the five framework gaps. Strengthens the cut by showing the discipline rather than asserting it.
  • Taiwan's anti-fraud initiative — democratic counter-CDO template
    A verified, contemporary state-scale deployment of the architectural counter: named institutions, owned public metrics, transparent friction — not authoritarian information control. Publishing it strengthens the cut by showing the counter operating in present-day practice, not only in historical traditions. Surfaced as prose in the cross-tradition counters section, with the offensive doctrine it counters held internal.

  • Attack matrix (36 techniques, ATT&CK-style)
    Operational granularity. Public publication adds adversary capability without commensurate defensive uplift. Held internal; cited in academic papers without the matrix surfaced.
  • PLA / CCP CDO Playbook
    Strategic-doctrinal detail on a state actor. The summary is in the Installed Watcher's cross-tradition convergence section; the full playbook stays internal.
  • U.S. Offensive Cognitive Warfare Stack
    Same constraint, applied symmetrically. Democratic constraint is itself an anti-installation property; surfacing the full stack publicly does not improve democratic outcomes.
  • Pattern Library (10 historical cases)
    Each case is annotated against techniques and threats. The cases are public knowledge; the annotation is the contribution. Held internal until the canon settles in public; partial release in the Installed Watcher's signatures section.
  • Red-Team Taxonomy and Capability Families
    Operational vocabulary used by red-team practitioners. Adds attacker capability when published without matching defensive instrument; the DCTI page covers the defensive substrate without surfacing the offensive taxonomy.
  • China-CDO Seven-Source Survey (PRC offensive doctrine)
    Adversary-doctrine compendium at recognition-plus granularity — the SCSP six-phase algorithmic targeting model and the PLA reading/controlling-the-brain (读脑/制脑) tactic taxonomy. The survey's defensive finding (Taiwan's anti-fraud template) is surfaced below; the offensive pipeline and tactic vocabulary stay internal per the instrument-vs-weapon line.
  • AI-Era Amplification Synthesis (offensive crosswalks)
    Maps the adversary's offensive pipeline onto the framework's threat profile (ACPP↔SCSP six-phase, ACPP↔读脑/制脑). The crosswalk is attacker uplift without commensurate defensive gain; the defensive half — DCTI inoculation against the same threats — is already public.
  • Internal reference set (detection indicators, defensive protocols, operator's-language glossary, classical lineage)
    Defensive and reference material, not weaponizable — held in the internal index for now only because it is working-note granularity, not because it is hazardous. The public surface carries its distilled forms: DCTI (the method), the Diagnostic Ladder (the instrument), and the Installed Watcher (the lineage in prose). Promotable as the canon settles.

§06are you being operated on?

The signatures of an installed frame, turned inward. No single line is proof. Read them through the governor below — the difference between discernment and the paranoia it would otherwise become.

  • I reach for a particular framing without quite choosing it.
  • I feel the expected emotion before I have evaluated the situation.
  • I police my own thinking against a standard I cannot name.
  • I cannot fully say why I hold a position I hold.
  • I avoid the sources that might un-install it.
  • When challenged, I default to who I am rather than what the evidence is.
  • A challenge to the frame feels like an attack on me.
  • My certainty runs ahead of the evidence I could produce.
