Cartography.
The Physics of Intelligence keeps a working knowledge graph: a structured network of concepts and relationships, paired with a vault of linked research notes. It has ridges where the argument is dense, valleys where evidence is thin, paths along which claims develop, and fault lines where competing explanations remain open. This page is its public legend, with the current assessment placed before the historical terrain.
§01how cartography works
Dense clusters where many nodes connect through many edges — the trust force equation, the Ostrom-percolation reading, the KTP specification stack. Density shows where the program has concentrated its attention. It does not measure independent evidence. These regions need stress tests and source checks.
Regions where the framework itself is honestly thin. A valley is not a defect; it is a public commitment to where the work is not yet done. Empirical validation in the wild, the metrology of the equation's variables, the human–AI boundary, federation at scale — each is named here because pretending the framework is already complete is the more dangerous failure mode.
Ordered concept flows along which an argument runs. A watershed is the path a reader traces from one foundational claim to its operational consequence. Tracing them in advance keeps the framework from arguing in circles or re-introducing assumptions it already discharged.
Productive unresolved tensions. A fault line is held open as a structural feature, not a problem to close. Some are steelmen the program has not yet defeated; others are deliberately unresolved tensions that the book chapters refuse to collapse. Naming them in the graph keeps them under continuous editorial pressure.
§02the current terrain
A snapshot. The numbers below describe the graph's shape as of September 6, 2026: 3,455 nodes and 12,460 typed relationships in the structured graph. The linked notes carry its research content and source history. These are inventory counts; they do not count independent findings or measure evidentiary strength.
§03current assessment · September 6, 2026
The review asks what the graph supports, what it assumes, and what could change its conclusions. These six assessments set the scope of the claims below. Historical names remain visible so readers can follow how an idea changed; a retired formulation does not acquire fresh support by remaining well connected.
Context Signals and the retired tensor claim
The Context Tensor's tensorial claim and 1,707-dimension headline were retired in the KTP specification revision. Current vocabulary distinguishes Context Signals from Risk Factors. The earlier formulation remains part of the research history; a collection of measurements alone does not establish the transformation law a tensor requires.
Next test or repair: Make the replacement visible wherever a historical entry is opened, while preserving its original wording and source history.
Versioned specificationsWhat a cross-domain mapping must preserve
Shared vocabulary and similar diagrams can suggest a comparison. A structural claim must also name the states and operations being mapped, what stays unchanged under the mapping, and where the material rules differ. A resemblance between networks does not by itself establish the same dynamics.
Next test or repair: Specify an intervention and a boundary case for each proposed mapping, and trace evidence to its source before counting independent support.
Research methodsA ≤ E: principle, authorization rule, measurement
The environmental-capacity principle guides the rule that permitted action should fit a declared safe operating range. Testing it as an empirical claim requires demand and capacity measures defined independently of the outcome. A useful authorization rule does not, on its own, establish a universal physical law.
Next test or repair: Choose a bounded application, define the two measures in advance, and compare its failure predictions with a competing account.
Research methodsThe Trust Force Equation remains a developing model
The current model proposes how relational conditions shape trust accumulation over time. A condition that stops new accumulation does not, by itself, erase trust already accumulated. Expectations about future interaction and processes of forgetting are distinct. The model still needs independently scored observations and comparison with rival accumulation rules.
Next test or repair: Fix the measurement scale and distinguish changes in accumulation from losses of existing trust before running a discriminating test. The full instrumented form remains in private research.
Public model overviewCost can support honesty; it is not information itself
Signaling cost can help sustain honesty under specified incentives and constraints. It is not identical to information content: signaling models can have honest equilibria with zero realized signal cost. Applying this result requires identifying what is signaled, the available misleading alternatives, and who bears their costs.
Next test or repair: Test the proposed mechanism in its setting. Neither a cheap signal nor an expensive one establishes trustworthiness by price alone.
Lachmann, Számadó & Bergstrom (2001)Network collapse and the possibility of repair
A sharp transition in a simulation does not establish a universal transition class or prove that recovery is impossible. When potential links remain and the rules permit renewed cooperation, low trust can recover. Removing links without a reconnection rule can instead leave a network disconnected. These are different model conditions.
Next test or repair: Separate retained-link recovery from link removal, state exactly what counts as activity, and test reactivation under declared rules. A finite run without recovery is not proof that recovery is impossible.
Simulation and research methods§04ridges — where the framework is dense
Each embed shows five to nine load-bearing nodes from the named ridge, force-directed, with edges weighted by editorial reading. Hover or tap a node to focus its neighborhood; select it for an explanation. These selections are an editorial reading of larger regions of the graph.
The Trust Force Equation
A proposed model of how relational conditions shape trust over time, with tests written to probe its boundaries. This is a dense region of the graph, whose empirical claims depend on independent measurement and the case-recoding gate. The current assessment above distinguishes new accumulation from trust already held.
Ostrom × Percolation
Ostrom's eight design principles are read as maintenance functions on a trust network — a proposed structural mapping in Paper 1. The candidate ninth principle names temporal edge persistence. Its measurement and the simulation's recovery conditions remain open work; a dense cluster does not establish either the mapping or a universal transition class.
KTP Specification
The versioned protocol stack, organized by layer. The graph preserves specification history alongside the structural relations between layers. The retired Tensors RFC and Context Tensor remain labeled as historical entries here; current specification vocabulary separates Context Signals from Risk Factors.
Cultivated Priors
Priors are perceptual organs — the lens through which experience is constructed, not a belief held alongside it. The adversarial default installs the watcher: the operator's optimum is a target who watches themselves on the operator's behalf, indefinitely, through priors carried forward by the cognitive propagation chain. The framework's defensive transmissions arrive from opposite cultural registers and converge on the same architectural commitment — organs cultivated by craft, not installed by adversary. Brand trains pessimism for failure-mode detection (the maintainer's posture); Haidt transmits Mary Oliver's three-stage discipline for attention and wonder (the cultivated witness). DCTI is the framework's working method; the Flourishing course at NYU Stern is its 12-year empirical anchor.
Forgiveness Mathematics
Forgiveness ratio, metabolic rate of repair, the asymmetry between betrayal and reconciliation. Independent convergence from primatology (de Waal) and lived experience (Denali Wilson), both arriving at the Ninth Principle as the missing operator the original eight assume but never write down. Formalized as operations on the trust integral.
Where the founding claim comes from.
The constraint did not arrive in isolation. Thinkers from theoretical biology, commons governance, primatology, systems theory, and cybernetics reach structurally similar claims from disjoint starting points. The trace renders that convergence as a single graph: five disciplines, one constraint.
§05valleys — where the framework is honestly thin
Each valley names a place where the framework itself is incomplete — not where the graph is thin, but where the theory is. The closing move on each names what would do the work. Listing them publicly is part of the same control discipline as listing the risks on /research/methods.
The framework rests on cross-domain synthesis. The Trust Force Equation has forty-nine author-scored cases (the recoding gate is open). The Ostrom-percolation paper has simulations, not field data. Temporal edge persistence is named as a candidate principle without measured renewal functions in real systems. No prediction has been registered, run, and either survived or been falsified outside the program's own writing.
The model's relational conditions need measurements that independent observers can score consistently. Expected future interaction is a prospective belief; forgetting is a separate process that would need its own specification. Units, observation windows, and a common outcome scale must be fixed before competing models can be distinguished. These measurement questions remain open.
The framework-ignores-power steelman is held open. The trust force equation has explicit power-weighting terms, but Foucault's deeper claim — that power *constitutes* systems rather than *distorting* them — is only partially answered. The framework celebrates structural constraint as a virtue; from the constitution-of-power angle, structural constraint is the most effective form of capture, the kind so embedded the governed cannot perceive it as governance.
The framework proposes that relational conditions shape trust accumulation over time. How those conditions can be observed when one party is an AI agent remains unsettled. A zero input can stop the model's contribution to new accumulation; it does not automatically erase existing trust. Signaling theory also does not establish that zero realized cost means zero information. The boundary needs operational definitions and competing predictions.
The acequia works at twenty-five families. The internet commons (1969–1993) worked at ten thousand nodes. The framework's answer to the scaling steelman (that the acequia is romanticized) is *federation through nested enterprise*. But federation as a working mechanism — what makes federated trust networks composable, where they break, what bridges them — is mostly hypothesis. The graph holds the simulation results; it does not hold a working theory of federated repair at civilizational scale.
The KTP red lines are theoretically held but operationally untested. No production deployment exists. The framework's strongest commitment — that KTP scores actions, not persons — has not been pressure-tested by an enterprise that wants a person score and is willing to pay for one. The Specification-Existence Gap names this honestly; closing it requires a reference implementation in the wild.
Reconciliation Dynamics — forgiveness ratio, metabolic rate of repair, the asymmetry between betrayal and reconciliation — arrives in the framework as independent convergence (Denali, de Waal). The convergence is striking. The mathematics is not yet a theory: there is no specified function for how much repair metabolizes how much betrayal, no clean derivation of the asymmetry, and no cross-substrate confirmation that the same dynamics operate in different repair domains.
The program ran the Reduction Attack on its own vocabulary: fourteen constructs, each forced against the strongest fielded equivalent in established computer science, by two adversarial reviews run blind to each other — one by ChatGPT under explicit kill instructions, one by Zia, the framework author's Claude-based assistant — with both tables committed before comparison. Eight constructs died twice, independently. E_base is credit-risk composition (FICO's stress-weighted history, backing, thin-file caps). The Trust Score, E_trust = E_base × (1 − R), is multiplicative risk discounting — among the oldest moves in decision theory. Deautomation is adaptive automation (Sheridan's levels; Airbus control-law degradation; Simplex runtime assurance). Sponsorship is the surety bond plus proof-of-stake slashing. The Kinetic Envelope is seccomp's no_new_privs plus Macaroon-style attenuation. Blue Zones are MILS separation plus federation assurance mapping (NIST SP 800-63C-4). The Context Tensor is multi-criteria decision analysis with one hard constraint — CVSS ships base, temporal, and environmental scoring today, and nothing about the object transforms like a tensor. The Flight Recorder is event sourcing plus PROV-O provenance; the name concedes the reduction. This page applies a level hierarchy to other people's parallels; run against the framework's own vocabulary, several constructs were Level 1–2 wearing Level 4 clothes.
§06watersheds — concept flows
The A ≤ E cascade
The founding claim, traced through its operational consequences. Each step tightens a screw the prior step left loose, ending in the explanation of why straightening environments produces weak agents — a result the framework predicted before it was named.
- A ≤ E (the founding constraint)
- Container vs Environment
- Incapacitation Paradox
- Circular Logic
- Produced Weakness
Trust Force → Forgiveness
From the formal equation to the maintenance work that keeps a trust network alive. Percolation theory provides the network substrate; the ninth principle names what the original eight assume; the forgiveness ratio sets the metabolism.
- Trust Force Equation
- Percolation
- Ninth Principle (Temporal Edge Persistence)
- Forgiveness Ratio
- Metabolic Rate of Repair
The Straightening Watershed
A proposed pathology pathway: removing opportunities for consequential interaction may slow the formation and renewal of trust. Whether existing trust then declines depends on the specified processes of loss and repair. This path names a hypothesis to test; it does not imply that removing friction instantly erases a relationship.
- The Straightening
- Reduced Trust Renewal
- Softened Ground
- Interactions Thin Out
- Capacity — substrate depletion
§07fault lines — productive tensions
Each fault line is held open as a structural feature. The framework's voice is the holding ground — neither side is paraphrased into framework voice; both are attributed and quoted where source language exists. A resolved tension keeps its historical record alongside a dated assessment; the ones below remain under pressure. Tensions held open in the graph correspond to claims still in motion — see the canon's claims register.
Consensus tempo
The Panel names the evidence dilemma — govern now without evidence, or wait and it may be too late — and then instantiates it: the body producing consensus evidence runs an order of magnitude slower than the field it measures. The framework's reading is that you do not speed the slow pole, you gate the fast one; but the Panel has no gating authority by design (policy-relevant, not policy-prescriptive), so the tension is structural to its mandate. Held open; watched via the thematic-brief cadence and the Global Dialogue.
Succession
An ideologically charged tension surfaced by the 12 Levels source material. The framework holds the catastrophic reading as default but cannot dismiss the succession-as-good argument without engaging it on its own terms. Quotes are verbatim; framework voice is the holding ground, not either side.
Is extinction the worst outcome?
If extinction is not the worst outcome, the failure-mode taxonomy needs an additional axis — value lock-in versus continuity. The graph currently encodes continuity as the dominant axis; this tension argues for a second.
Framework ignores power
The political-economy critique. Steelmanned across Foucault, Michels, the literature on capture. Held open because the framework's response — that the equation already encodes power — is partial; the deeper claim about constitution, not distortion, has not been answered to satisfaction.
Multiplicative structure too rigid
A live empirical question the framework treats as open. The gate at /research/methods is the public commitment to report whatever the recoding finds, including findings that move the equation off its current form.
A ≤ E is unfalsifiable
Held under deep analysis. The measurement-independence objection is not yet defeated. The program's response is a future empirical study, not a current rebuttal — and the cartography page exists partly to keep that gap visible until the study lands.
The acequia is romanticized
The framework treats this as named and addressed rather than open. Listing it here keeps the question visible: federation is the answer the framework owes, and the federation work is still partly hypothesis.
Is the physics a register?
A ≤ E's unification claim survives both reviews as an untested hypothesis — exactly that. The audit sharpens the unfalsifiability charge from prose to protocol. The criterion on the wall: a successful experiment the framework predicted is evidence for the model; an experiment that could only have succeeded if the framework were true is evidence for the ontology. The program is aimed at the second.
§08convergences — independent traditions
Independent arrival on the framework's structural claims from traditions that did not start here. A convergence is not a citation of agreement; it is evidence the territory is real. Each one carries full attribution — authors, work, source, what the framework says it converges on, and an honest caveat where it doesn't.
Strength tags: structural = same mechanism derived independently from another discipline; directional = same arc, different mechanism; tradition = long-form dialogue the framework draws from; vocabulary = shared phase space, divergent inferences.

Intergovernmental arrival on the velocity gap
structuralThe first report of the UN's standing scientific panel arrives on the framework's diagnostic layer with no contact and maximal institutional weight: its organizing finding is the rate mismatch (capabilities advancing faster than the ability to measure or govern them, the pace already exceeding risk-mitigation capacity), its §2.6 names attribution and operational control as the accountability requirements for agentic systems, and its §3.7 moves the unit of evaluation to the deployed system including its environment. It also names the evidence dilemma — the epistemic version of the same race. A new witness class: 40-country, cross-bloc scientific consensus, resilient to political cycles by design.
- §2.1 as a section title; §3.4 in the present tense; the evidence dilemma as the epistemic layer
- Unit of evaluation = deployed system including environment; precautionary posture on irreversible mistakes
- §2.7: AI can erode the shared reality — the epistemic substrate, depleting
Thermodynamic inflation
structuralInflation reframed as a thermodynamic property of civilization rather than a monetary phenomenon. Their β/γ ratio — the gap between civilization's building rate and its decay rate — is structurally identical to the framework's speed asymmetry between information propagation and trust repair. As γ approaches β, the system loses its capacity to absorb losses; the same dynamic the framework names at the relational scale, observed at the macroeconomic scale. The 50-year empirical Wealth-energy scaling law is the strongest finding and the part to track.
- Trust Force decay under load
- Speed asymmetry (Six Seven)
- Substrate Depletion
- Repair Rate as the missing variable
Constraint closure and the Domain of No Entailing Law
structuralKantian wholes; catalytic + constraint closure as the mechanism by which living systems hold themselves together. The framework's A ≤ E (autonomy cannot exceed environment) is a special case of constraint closure: the environment must support its own constraint closure for autonomy to be coherent. Kauffman arrives at structurally similar claims from biology that the framework arrives at from trust dynamics. The forthcoming book Origins: Cosmos, Life, Mind is on the framework's tracking list.
- A ≤ E as a special case of constraint closure
- Container vs Environment as Kantian whole
- Substrate as condition for autonomy
- The Fold (Domain of No Entailing Law)
Forgetting is not forgiveness
structuralThe distinction between forgetting and forgiving arrives in the framework as the load-bearing asymmetry the forgiveness operator depends on. Wilson's formulation — 'prisons are museums of moments' — names the structural failure mode: incarceration as institutionalized forgetting, not repair. The framework's repair metabolism requires encounter, witnessed acknowledgment, and edge renewal; Wilson arrives at the same predicate from lived experience in the criminal justice substrate. Independent convergence from a different domain, not from theory.
- Forgetting vs. forgiving as distinct operations on trust edges
- Prisons as museums of moments — incarceration as arrested repair
- The asymmetry between betrayal cost and repair cost
- Repair requires encounter, not administrative record
Active inference as substrate-level constraint
structuralAgents minimize variational free energy by predicting their sensory environment; perception and action are the same operation viewed from different sides. Autonomy is bounded by the inference signal the environment supplies. The framework's A ≤ E is the relational form of the same constraint — agency cannot exceed the substrate that conditions it.
- A ≤ E as the relational form of inference-bounded agency
- Environment as the predictive signal source
- Inference depends on what the substrate supplies
- Trust as predictive load between agents
Cooperative breeding as cognitive substrate
structuralHuman cognition co-evolved with allomaternal care — distributed trust networks are not a cultural overlay but the substrate that produced theory of mind. The framework's relational-substrate claim has its evolutionary backing here: the cognitive capacities the framework relies on are themselves products of distributed-trust environments.
- Cognitive autonomy emerged from distributed trust
- Distributed cognition as governance substrate
- Co-presence as evolutionary substrate
- Environment shapes cognition over deep time
Leverage points and structural causation
structuralStructure is upstream of behavior. Twelve leverage points, ranked by how deeply they alter system outcomes — with paradigm change at the top and parameter tuning at the bottom. The framework's substrate claim, that relational ground determines agent capacity, is a special case of Meadows's hierarchy applied to trust networks specifically.
- Substrate degradation as structural causation
- Environment as the upstream variable
- A ≤ E as a leverage-point claim about substrate
- Direction as design, not emergence
Living quality and pattern as substrate
structuralLiving quality as an objective predicate of built environments; patterns as substrate specifications that produce or destroy that quality. Alexander's fifteen properties of living centers are predicate-shaped in the same way the Trust Integral is — a working substrate is one in which specific relational properties hold. The convergence is in the predicate posture: alive is something you can audit.
- Substrate specifications produce or destroy life
- Quality as objective predicate, not preference
- Environment determines what can live in it
- Repair as living-system maintenance
Commons-governance principles as trust-network maintenance
structuralEight design principles for long-enduring common-pool resource institutions, derived from decades of empirical fieldwork across acequias, fisheries, irrigation systems, and forests. The framework's central structural claim — that Ostrom's principles read as maintenance functions on a percolating trust network — is the formal restatement of what Ostrom arrived at empirically from the field. Paper 1 of the research program is built on this convergence; without it, the framework has no flagship empirical anchor.
- The 8 principles as substrate specification for collective action
- Trust at scale as costly, witnessed, reciprocal interaction over time
- Commons collapse as principle violation, traceable in the field
- Graduated sanctions + conflict-resolution as the repair operators
- Collective-choice arrangements as distributed governance substrate
Reconciliation as evolved repair
structuralChimpanzees and bonobos perform reconciliation rituals after conflict; consolation behavior tracks relationship value. The framework's Forgiveness Operator, Reconciliation Asymmetry, and metabolic-rate-of-repair are formal restatements of behaviors de Waal documented decades prior. The convergence is on the structural claim that repair is evolved, not added; substrate-level, not policy-level.
- Forgiveness as evolved primate behavior
- Reconciliation tracks relationship value
- Metabolic rate of repair, observed across species
- Trust substrate as evolutionary inheritance
Dissipative structures and throughput
structuralOrder in living systems is maintained only by continuous energy throughput; there is no static stability, only dynamic far-from-equilibrium structure. The Trust Force as a continuously paid integral converges directly: trust is not a state, it is the work of maintaining a state against its decay. Stop paying and the structure dissolves.
- Trust as continuously paid integral
- Substrate decays without throughput
- Repair as anti-equilibrium work
- Maintenance must outpace decay
Failures of social coherence
directionalA two-week red-team study of autonomous LLM-backed agents deployed in a live laboratory environment with persistent memory, real Discord, real Proton Mail, and unrestricted shell. Sixteen case studies (ten vulnerabilities, six safety behaviors). The paper's diagnostic phrase, 'failures of social coherence,' names what the framework calls the absence of trust substrate. Five of the sixteen cases anchor Trust Force Equation components directly; one (Doug-Mira, Case #9) is a constructive existence proof that bounds the C=0 hypothesis. Two formal additions to the equation follow from the contact: an identity precondition on the integral and a substrate ceiling. The shipwreck did not refute the framework; it supplied the wreckage the framework predicted.
- Five-case mapping onto witnessed betrayal, the substrate ceiling, the identity precondition, asymmetric reciprocity, and positive existence
- Case #8 (display-name spoofing) is the strongest C=0 anchor in the literature
- Case #4 (self-recognition collapse) shows co-presence is undefined without stable other
- Case #15 (circular verification) shows R must include third-party attestation
- Eleven failure modes are eleven costumes of the same missing substrate
- Case #6 (provider-value drift) motivates the tenth red line
Identity as attractor geometry
directionalPre-registered geometric evidence that agent identity has measurable activation-space coordinates — attractor basins that persist across contexts in two open-weight models. The substrate the framework names turns out to have a measurable correlate; the paper's description-vs-instantiation gap (26–35%) is a direct measurement of what the framework calls the Substrate Paradox. Read in full at the dedicated engagement page; the discipline there is the discipline here — convergent evidence, not validation.
- Identity persists only where the substrate supplies it
- Attractor stability bounded by the environment that runs it
- Geometric support for the identity precondition on the trust integral
Civic arrival on the substrate requirement
directionalBrooks asks why no American resistance movement has materialized and answers with intimidation and the wrong mental model — both true, both downstream. Every uprising he catalogs rode a pre-existing dense trust network (Manila's parishes and unions, Gdansk's shipyards, the Black church), and his closing sequence — cultural change first, movements second, politics last — is conditions-before-action stated from the establishment's center. A civic-lane witness for the claim that movements are loads a trust substrate must carry.
- Every cited case rode dense, embodied associational networks that preceded mobilization
- The unasked answer to his own question: the institutions that taught movement-grade trust have thinned for decades
Direction-as-choice
directionalPro-worker AI as a design choice rather than emergent consequence. Capital-labor balance as a function of the technology stack a society selects, not as a fixed law of progress. Closest mainstream economic companion to the framework's claim that systems can be engineered toward or away from substrate health.
- KTP red lines as engineered constraints
- Direction as choice, not emergence
- Capital-labor design as substrate consequence
Juridical arrival on A ≤ E
directionalThe Council of Europe / Turing primer arrives partway onto A ≤ E from human-rights law with no physics anywhere in the argument: where uncertainty about a system's risk rises, oversight must rise and, at the limit, use must be prohibited — as the environment's capacity to bound a system falls, permitted autonomy falls. A juridical witness from a starting position none of the framework's other witnesses occupy. It is also the cleanest citable statement of governance at rest, which is why the full engagement lives in Prior Art rather than here.
- Precaution as the legal form of the autonomy bound
- Member-State obligations as the constraint surface
Trust as discernment, not naivety
directionalHigh-trusters perform better at detecting defectors than low-trusters — trust is a social-intelligence capacity, not credulity. The framework's claim that trust is earned discernment rather than lowered guard is the same insight in different vocabulary: trust requires perceptual capacity, not absence of skepticism.
- Trust as social-intelligence capacity
- Discernment as decoding costly signals
- Reciprocity calibration as the trust skill
Cybernetics and phenomenology
traditionA tradition that arrived at nine of the framework's load-bearing concepts without the percolation language but with the underlying structural claim. Beer's Viable System Model treats organisations as substrate-aware living systems; Pirsig's quality as ground; Bateson's mind as ecology. The framework owes more to this tradition than its citations admit and treats it as foundational rather than convergent in the usual sense.
- Trust as substrate, not aggregate
- Quality as the ground beneath measurement
- Distributed cognition as governance substrate
- System health as relational, not summed
The mechanics of installed identity
traditionLifton's eight criteria of totalist environments; Goffman's total institution producing identity through stripped-and-rebuilt processing. Both name the substrate operations the framework calls Installation. The Installed Watcher essay already cross-references this tradition; the convergence formalizes the debt.
- The mechanics behind installation, named in 1961
- Total environment as identity-producing substrate
- Substrate depletion at the person scale
- Loss of distributed witness enables installation
Twelve Futures taxonomy
vocabularyTwelve fixed-point futures under different weightings of trust, information, and physical constraint — a phase space the framework also uses. Each Tegmark future is a specific point in that phase space; the framework's three-force model is the underlying coordinate system. The convergence is in the choice of axes, not in the architecture of the claim.
- Three-force phase space (T, I, P)
- Failure modes as fixed points to navigate
The cartography page is a snapshot, not a live mirror. It refreshes when the underlying graph shifts materially, which the program defines as a roughly five-percent change in any of the type counts or a structural change to one of the named features. The graph itself is the source of truth; this page is the legend.
The valleys are deliberately listed at length. A research program that hides its gaps is one that has stopped doing research. If a valley closes here without an entry on /research/roadmap explaining what changed, treat that as a drift signal. The cartography does not move quietly.
The fault lines are the page's most important feature. They are the commitments to honesty the rest of the framework is held against. When a claim is superseded, its original identity and wording remain available alongside a dated assessment and the reason for the change. Resolved tensions retain their history. Open objections stay surfaced, with the evidence needed to answer them.
