the ethical boundary

Ethics.

Digital Gravity uses vulnerability diagnostically. It opens a felt point of exposure, reveals the mechanism operating through it, and returns the reader with an instrument for seeing, naming, and repairing what would otherwise remain invisible. The house rule below is the operational test the writing applies to itself — every essay must pass it before publication.

the house rule
  1. 01If the essay opens a vulnerability, it must return an instrument.
  2. 02If it names a pipeline, it must teach the reader to see the pipeline.
  3. 03If it shows harm, it must ask who owns repair.
  4. 04If it uses cognitive force, it must disclose the force.

These four lines are the operational test the writing applies to itself before publication. Not aspiration — the rule.

five operational extensions

The four-line house rule covers the writing-time discipline abstractly. The five rules below are how it lands on the page — five classes of choice the writer makes before publishing.

  1. 01
    No pipeline without counter-instrument.
If a piece describes capture, tagging, encoding, valuation, or commitment, it must also show the reader how to notice those stages.
  2. 02
    No vulnerability without agency return.
If the essay opens exposure, it must return a diagnostic, a question, a category, or a repair path before it ends.
  3. 03
No offensive concept without defensive inverse.
If the work names a threat pattern, it must also name how to recognize, slow, or repair it. ACPP cannot ship without DCTI; the diagnosis cannot ship without the instrument.
  4. 04
No trust computation without appeal, expiry, and repair.
KTP must not become permanent person scoring or hidden social sorting. Every implementation carries the red lines.
  5. 05
    No diagnosis without discernment.
Not every signal is hostile. The goal is awareness, not suspicion. The Anti-Paranoia clause holds the line.
the distinguishing line

Propaganda uses the pipeline and hides it. Digital Gravity uses the pipeline to reveal the pipeline.

The line that travels. Both moves use the same pipeline; only one of them returns the reader's agency.

the anti-paranoia clause

Once a reader has seen the pipeline, the failure mode flips: it becomes tempting to read every signal as adversarial, every viral piece as designed, every emotional reaction as planted. That posture is not awareness — it is the same pipeline running backward, with suspicion as its payload. The framework holds the line at discernment.

  1. Not every signal is an operation.
  2. Not every viral thing is hostile.
  3. The goal is discernment, not suspicion.
  4. Paranoia is itself a form of capture.

Applied: the worked example of the house rule at section scale lives at /research/cognitive — what's published, what's held internal, and the reasons for each cut.

— Discernment, not suspicion.
